This water tender used in wildland fire response by Klickitat Fire District #15 was purchased through a federal grant program administered in Washington State by DNR.
Fire districts that protect areas from wildfire got some good news this week. DNR is accepting Fire District Assistance Grant applications for an additional two weeks. The assistance grant program is funded by the U.S. Department of Agriculture
Extended until close of business on Friday, November 9, 2012, fire districts have more opportunity to apply for funding to purchase fire engines and other general equipment used to fight wildfires.
Grant information, including district eligibility, types of projects eligible for funding, and district applications can be viewed on the Fire District Assistance web page.
Eligible applicants are fire districts and departments that currently provide wildland fire response to private, state, or federal ownerships. In addition, the fire districts and departments must either serve less than 10,000 residents or serve a community of more than 10,000 residents and a service area that includes a rural community of fewer than 10,000 residents.
