The Washington State Department of Natural Resources (DNR) has announced that the Naneum Ridge State Forest will reopen at midnight tonight. The state forest was closed due to impacts from the Table Mountain Fire, North of Ellensburg. Successful fire suppression efforts have reduced the risk to firefighter and public safety.
DNR’s statewide burn ban will expire at midnight tonight as well. Backcountry campers will be able to light campfires to stay warm this hunting season.
When hunting in the forest, please use caution. There are still firefighters in the area. Before you head out, check out the Forest Road Survival Guide for helpful tips on staying safe on forest roads.
