Volunteer opportunity: Help fix Tooler Trail at Saturday’s Walker Valley work party

Are you interested in helping reopen Tooler Trail for off-road riding? This Saturday’s work party at Walker Valley ORV trail system will focus on fixing the drainage issues that resulted in the temporary closure of this one-mile trail.

DNR staff and volunteers will be working to improve drainage from the trails and water quality in nearby streams. The goal of the work is to ensure that muddy water is dispersed and safely diverted away from streams and wetlands. We will reopen the trail as soon as possible.

Work party details:

  • When: Saturday, March 12
  • Time: 9 to 3 (Show up at 9 a.m. for work assignment; stay as long as you like.)
  • Where: Walker Valley ORV trailhead kiosk at the end of Peter Burns Road, east of Mount Vernon and Big Lake
  • Directions
  • Contact: Jim Cahill at 360-854-2874

Alternate routes: While Tooler Trail is being repaired, you can use alternate routes such as Pat’s Trail and Muddled Meanderings to get to the upper valley.
