Hawaiians join Washington Incident Management Team to prepare and train for Hawaii wildfires

Recently, the Honolulu Fire Department sent over five members to shadow a Washington State firefighting team to learn about incident management and wildfire protection on the Hawaiian Islands.

The team is learning from Washington Incident Management Team #3 personnel while they fight the Cascade Creek Fire in the Gifford Pinchot National Forest. Incident management teams are all-risk teams that not only manage wildfires, but any kind of incident that requires management.

Hawaii’s initiative is to have all emergency responders trained for a state or regional response capability in any incident. Read more of the story.
