It’s another hot day on the Colockum Tarps Fire, which has burned about 80,400 acres of grass, brush and timber in Kittitas and Chelan counties since starting last week. This wildfire is about 64 percent contained. Today, crews continue to build more containment lines on the fire’s western perimeter where steep terrain has slowed their progress. Some 800 personnel are working on this fire.

DNR has issued a statewide burn ban on all lands under its protection. This ban, in effect through September 30, prohibits campfires and other types of recreational fires on all DNR-protected lands, including all developed state, local and private campgrounds.
