With more than 1,100 miles of trails across the state, ground breaking on new mountain bike trails on North Mountain near Darrington and Raging River State Forest near Issaquah, and a slew of other growing DNR-managed trail networks, it’s no stretch to say DNR celebrates National Trails Day every day.

In addition to building, we’re also planning for highly treasured trails statewide. One trail plan in the works includes 17 miles intended to increase connections throughout the Yacolt Burn State Forest. A volunteer planning committee based in Whatcom County is also helping us plan for future trails as part of our Baker to Bellingham recreation planning effort.

Volunteers also help us care for miles of trails statewide. To get involved this National Trails Day, consider joining them at one of our work parties tomorrow, June 4.
