We keep our eyes open for fun family events, especially ones that teach children (and their parents) tips for wildfire safety and, of course, a chance to meet national celebrities like Smokey Bear. Last weekend, Woodland Park Zoo in Seattle and Radio Disney co-hosted a Safety Safari. The event is over now, of course, but who can resist a photo of Smokey Bear getting a ‘hi-five’ from a 5-year-old?
Here are two recent blogs about slightly older kids (young adults, actually) helping improve their communites’s awareness and response to wildfire dangers in rural Pierce County and King County (Eastlake).
